Ecology and description
Paratrichius duplicatus okinawanus is a small scarab beetle of the Okinawa Islands, with a body length of 11.7–13.5mm. Adults appear from March to May and are not abundant. They are occasionally found on the flowers of the Itajii chinkapin (Castanopsis sieboldii var. lutchuensis) in spring.
Females of Paratrichius duplicatus okinawanus are less common. Online observation records give a ratio of about one female to 20–30 individuals, possibly because females visit flowers more often at higher positions and are therefore harder to encounter near the ground.
Paratrichius duplicatus okinawanus is easily confused with related taxa. The distributions of these taxa are as follows:
- Paratrichius duplicatus duplicatus: Amami Islands
- Paratrichius duplicatus okinawanus: Okinawa Islands
