  • Available year-round
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Capacity: 1 – 3 persons. For groups of 4 or more, please provide a rental car or chartered vehicle. The guide will join you in your vehicle.
    • 1 person: 20,000 JPY / person
    • 2 – 3 persons: 12,000 JPY / person
    • Groups of 4+: 40,000 JPY / group + 1,000 JPY (Insurance fee) x total number of participants
  • Child rates are not available; participants aged 6 and older are charged the adult rate. For children under 6, a 1,000 JPY insurance fee per person applies.

We will drive to observe Okinawa rails sleeping in the trees at night. To minimize stress to the birds, please follow the guide’s instructions and limit photography time.

What to bring
  • Binoculars or a camera with a telephoto lens
  • Water
  • Comfortable walking shoes (no open-toe footwear)
Notes
  • Under Japan’s guiding permit, our nature tours may include pickup.
  • This tour searches by car around Ada and nearby forest roads for Okinawa Rail, owls, and Ryukyu Flying Fox. Activity is lower in winter (Dec–Feb).
  • Rainy Weather Guidelines:
    Rainfall under 5 mm/h (with rain easing): Tour runs as scheduled (observation from inside the vehicle is also possible)
    Rainfall 5 mm/h or more, typhoons, or cold snaps: Tour canceled (as bird activity decreases significantly in these conditions)
  • Sightings of specific species are not guaranteed.
