Ecology and description

Yambaru giant slug is a common slug found in the forests of northern Okinawajima. Its body length can reach up to about 15 cm. It is typically light brown and commonly spotted in the forest environment of the northern Yambaru area. The closely related species Meghimatium fruhstorferi is widely distributed in China, Taiwan, and Japan. The taxonomic status of slugs in the Yambaru area is currently undetermined.
