Ecology and Description
Previously considered a subspecies of the Narcissus flycatcher (Ficedula narcissina), it is now regarded as an independent species. Sightings on Okinawajima are rare and infrequent.

Encounters with this species during tours are extremely rare, but sightings are more likely during the spring breeding season. Outside the breeding season, they are less vocal.
