Ecology and description
The Aramoto freshwater crab has a carapace width of about 3cm and a narrow distribution, found only in a few streams. Other freshwater crabs in Okinawa sometimes leave the water temporarily, but the Aramoto freshwater crab stays in the water almost all the time.
The holotype of Geothelphusa aramotoi was collected by Y. Aramoto (written as Yoin Aramoto in the acknowledgments of the original description). The origin of the specific epithet is not stated in the original description.
