生態與特徵
新本澤蟹背甲寬約3cm，分布範圍狹窄，只發現於少數溪流。沖繩的其他種澤蟹平時會暫時離開水域，但新本澤蟹幾乎都在水中。
新本澤蟹的中文名依種小名 aramotoi 取名。模式標本由Y. Aramoto採集（論文謝辭寫作Yoin Aramoto），原文未說明命名由來，漢字採用「新本」。
