Origin: Miyako Islands and Yaeyama Islands (excluding Yonaguni)

Ecology and description

This species is a small lizard living on the forest floor, with a total length of about 10cm, and is secretive and hard to observe. On Miyakojima and Ishigaki, where it is distributed, introduced species such as the Japanese weasel and Common peafowl may prey on it, leading to a decline in its population.
