About the guide

In Memory of Director Su Chii-cherng, 2018

During my time in Naha, Director Su from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Japan took great care of me. Director Su, also from Chiayi, Taiwan, was always kind and supportive. Sometimes, he would invite me to dinner or go on evening walks together. Sadly, he passed away in 2018.

Tour Features:

Due to the specialized nature of biological names, even people who have lived in Japan for a long time or hold interpreter licenses may not always be able to translate them accurately. I can correctly introduce the Chinese common names of Japanese species and provide guests with well-organized materials. I am also actively studying biological groups I am less familiar with to offer more comprehensive tour content.

In addition to introducing the organisms we encounter, I can share my past observation experiences, Japan’s conservation policies, and cultural and historical insights that go beyond what we can see with our eyes.

Having lived in Kunigami Village for a long time, I have many connections with the locals. This allows me to arrange special activities such as expert lectures or group tours.

I do not guide groups whose sole purpose is photography. I avoid luring animals for photos, playing bird calls to attract birds, or allowing guests to handle animals outside their habitats. My tours are conducted with a focus on environmental conservation and comprehensive ecological interpretation.
