巨型長尾蛛

生態與特徵

大疣蛛科（Macrothelidae）長尾蛛屬（Macrothele）的日文俗名為「ジョウゴグモ」，其中「ジョウゴ」可寫作漢字「漏斗」，名稱由來可能與本屬蜘蛛會結漏斗狀的網有關。

日本的長尾蛛屬物種，分別為：

• 巨型長尾蛛 (Macrothele gigas)
  日文名：オオクロケブカジョウゴグモ
  分布：石垣島、西表島
  體長約3.5公分
• 八木沼長尾蛛（又稱八重山長尾蛛）(Macrothele yaginumai)
  日文名：ヤエヤマジョウゴグモ
  分布：石垣島、西表島
  體長約1.5至2.1公分
• 奄美長尾蛛 (Macrothele amamiensis)
  日文名：アマミジョウゴグモ
  分布：奄美大島、德之島

雖然巨型長尾蛛與八木沼長尾蛛皆分布於石垣島與西表島，但可藉由體型大小來區分。

根據1998年的研究，過去一直以來把分布在石垣島、西表島的巨型長尾蛛（Macrothele gigas） 認為與分布於台灣的赫爾斯特長尾蛛（Macrothele holsti）同種，後來經此1998年的研究才分開此2種。

長尾蛛之所以有名，也是因為牠是知名的毒蜘蛛，建議不要輕易嘗試捕捉。
